Sailing Committee Chair: Mike Mears
“Our mission is to encourage yachting and other social recreations and to promote good fellowship among the members.”
The club, in its 100-year history, has a vibrant racing and cruising history. FYC has been a part of the Long Island Sound sailing community, participating in local area regatta’s as well as sponsoring charity regattas since the club’s inception. The large dock, with fuel, electrical and pump out station, as well as the guest dock and launch, make Fayerweather an ideal location to embark on your next adventure on the water.
There are many opportunities, all season long to get involved in boating. FYC sponsors regattas both with our sister club BRYC as well as participating in much larger regattas around Long Island Sound. Members participate in Block Island Race Week, PYC Faulkner Island race and the Martha’s Vineyard regatta with many FYC boats and crew taking silver on the podium.
The club is now offering a Ladies Sailing Program as well as a “Learn to Sail” program. The Learn to Sail Program will start this year with club owned J22’s. In addition, there will be a sailboat rental program available to all certified members to further advance our rich sailing history.
There are many opportunities for members to get involved. FYC is an open and friendly Sailing and Powerboat community.
