“to encourage yachting and other social recreations; and to promote good fellowship among the members.”

The club, in its 100-year history, has a vibrant racing and cruising history.  FYC has been a part of the Long Island Sound sailing community, participating in local area regatta’s as well as sponsoring charity regattas since the club’s inception.    The large dock, with fuel, electrical and pump out station, as well as the guest dock and Launch, make Fayerweather an ideal location to embark on your next adventure on the water.

Many of the clubs’ sailors like to hone their skills on race nights, either by sailing their own boat or crewing with other members.  Members who are powerboaters often join, either by registering as crew or coming out to help with marks or just to watch the races.  At FYC we have a diverse group of yachtsmen in our community, where we reinforce our community of boaters without regard for Sail or Power boater.

Whatever your interest may be, to learn more about sailing, be a participant or just want to get out on the water with fellow members.   FYC welcomes all members to join in on the fun.  Our Racing program has a dedicated PRO with an experienced race committee.  All FYC racing is done with our sister club BRYC.  Sailors who are not associated with either club are welcome to join in all the club racing, including the Wednesday Night Series.

Racing at Fayerweather Yacht club

FYC has a long history of bringing members together through friendly competition as well as after race parties and events.  The club is focused on including all levels of competition and strive to make all sailors comfortable and challenged at any of our sponsored regattas and events.

Wednesday Night Series

The Wednesday Night Series is a season long race starting May 11th, ending September 7th.  There are 18 scheduled races including Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker divisions.  Boats needing crew, or members who want to crew can sign up on the “Crew Register”.  After each Wednesday nights race, awards are given out to the top three finishers in each class.  The end of the year awards dinner will be September 21st.  Members and Non-Members are welcome to sail.

Ladies Big Boat - Chowder Race

FYC along with BRYC will be hosting a weekly chowder races every Thursday.  These races are low key events for fun.  The purpose is to have sailors and inexperienced sailors get out on the water to enjoy a night of lite hearted, noncompetitive racing.  After each race FYC members are invited to back to BRYC for a cup of Chowder and comradery.  There is no cost to join this event and all boats and crews are welcome.

Sail Park City

Sail Park City is a charity for Hartford Healthcare.  Along with the Annual Swim across the Sound the regatta is a fun competitive regatta where FYC host a joint FYC and BRYC regatta with a tremendous after race party.  The regatta is open to all clubs and individual sailors.  In addition, the after party for the event looks to raise money for the Hartford Health care cancer center.  The regatta is scheduled for July 16th, 2022.

Ken Johnson “Team” regatta

The Ken Johnson regatta has been transformed into a team regatta event.  It is the only regatta where each club or organization compete as a team to win a 5L Keg of rum.  The Regatta and after party will be on Oct 1st, 2022.  The regatta is followed by a regatta party featuring great food form the FYC fishing committee, music dancing as well as other activities.

Halloween Race

The Annual Halloween race is a tradition at FYC.  If your boat is still in the water the weekend of Halloween October 29th, 2022, come out and sail.  Boats, skipper and crew, dress up for this event.  The race is sponsored by the FYC sailing committee.

Wild Turkey

The last race of the year, if you still have the sailing bug and don’t mind the cold weather, FYC sailing committee hosts the last regatta of the year the day after Thanksgiving.  There will be warm food at the club after the race.   The race is scheduled for October 25th, 2022.
